"Prostate cancer mainly affects men over 50, and your risk increases with age. The average age for men to be diagnosed with prostate cancer is between 65 and 69 years. One man in eight will contract prostate cancer, so it is imperative that the walking football community helps and support this very important charity."
The Rules Of The EWFL Knockout Cup (in support of Prostate Cancer UK) Competition
A club can enter teams of NINE players. Each team/club can contain 3 over 50's players but under 60, the rest of the squad of nine need to be over 60's players. We want to make this inclusive as possible for all ages. The tournament principles are based on fair play and obviously this includes the physicality of the players. NB: The Rules Committee reserves the right to change the format of this event each season.
All proceeds inc. entry fees (less matchday fees) from the event are to be donated to Prostate Cancer UK. The competition entry fee must be made by bank transfer to the club organising the event no later than 7 days before the event. All clubs can make further donations to Prostate Cancer UK on the day. NB: All donations and competition entry fees (less matchday fees) will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK after the competition.
Any further donations that teams, players, supporters or match officials can be placed in the Prostate Cancer UK collection buckets or tins available on the day of any EWFL League or Cup fixture/s. We expect to raise at least £1,000 from this cup competition for this very important charity.
The format of the cup competition will be as follows:

"Age is just a number in this game."
"We all should find something we love and enjoy doing – walking football is an excellent recreational sport and joining a team in the Essex Walking Football League may provide that opportunity to re-live some of those childhood memories (but don't forget the walking!)"
