Day Lewis Pharmacy
Simon Moul, of Day Lewis Pharmacy says, “We see this partnership with the EWFL as a great opportunity for us being connected with an adult ‘grassroots’ footballleague in Essex from the very start. It will provide us a unique opportunity to promote our men’s health mobile clinics at each of the EWFL tournament venues throughout Essex.” The Day Lewis Pharmacy have confirmed that they will continue their sponsorship for season 2018.
Background to Day Lewis Pharmacy
Over more than three decades, Day Lewis has grown from two pharmacies to a chain of over 285 pharmacies, predominately based in the South of England. The company was founded in 1975 by Kirit Patel MBE and his brother JC Patel and the business remains a family-owned entity. As well as a strong retail pharmacy base, the Group contains a central distribution division, with warehouses equipped with Knapp automation, in order to supply over 4000 pharmaceutical products to its retail pharmacies in the UK.
Throughout its dynamic history in community pharmacy and the business arena, Day Lewis has advanced from being a traditional retail pharmacy business, dispensing medication and offering retail products, into a patient-orientated service provider. All Day Lewis pharmacies offer free health advice and are trained to be healthy living champions, which means that patient welfare is a key focus. The success of the group has been largely attributed to its employees and its organisational culture. The company’s core purpose is “To help people in the community stay healthy and feel better”.
Going forward, Day Lewis aspires to grow through acquisition whilst still maintaining its independence and family culture.
Age UK Essex
Michelle Martin, of Age UK Essex says, “We see our partnership with the EWFL as a great opportunity for us being connected with clubs in a ‘grass roots’ football league that actively promotes the well-being of people in later life. It will provide us with a further fundraising opportunity via the EWFL to promote our range of products and services, which will be displayed at each of their events. In return we will be promoting walking football via our centres, shops, articles in the Age UK magazine and via our social media outlets.”
Background to Age UK Essex
Their Aim - At Age UK Essex they aim to promote the wellbeing of all older people in Essex and be there to support people to live fulfilling and enjoyable lives. They believe in a society in which people in later life from all communities have equal access to services, where they are free from discrimination and their human rights are promoted and protected. They believe everyone should be who they want to be. No matter what their age.
What They Do - Later life should a time of activity and engagement when we are able to carry on socialising, working and contributing to our community. But this is sadly not true for thousands of older people in Essex. There are many people in later life who are lonely and cut off from society. They want to change this. At Age UK Essex they work hard to engage with older people and respond to their needs. Their support services reach out to those who need help and enable them to enjoy later life. Last year their Information and Advice service secured over £5 million of benefits for vulnerable older people while their ‘Befriending’ service visited 690 lonely people.
How They're Funded - With the demand for their help growing, they are striving to raise income to support their services. They use the profits from their fee charging services to subsidise those that receive very limited or no external funding and their trading company also play an incredibly important part in supporting their work by Gift Aiding any profit they make back to the charity. They also rely on their dedicated supporters and fundraisers, who donate their time, money and knowledge to help them raise as much money as possible.
It should be noted that Age UK Essex are the back-of-shirt sponsor for the Little Oakley FC 'Blues' team. The sponsorship was underwritten by donation.
